The Area / Things to do

As the world famous "home of golf", St Andrews boasts six Links Golf Courses, with a seventh being built. Additionally golf is available at the challenging Kingsbarns Links golf course and at either of the two courses of St. Andrews Bay, The Torrance and Devlin, which can be walked to from the cottage.

Golf at St Andrews

St Andrews has a wealth of history with spectacular ruins of the 13th century Cathedral, the oldest University in Scotland, cobbled streets, and many buildings of historic significance.

The East Neuk of Fife has several EU blue flag beaches, the famous West Sands and East Sands in St Andrews and Kingsbarns beach, some 3 miles to the south of the cottage. These beaches are clean and child friendly. Small picturesque fishing villages are a feature of the area.

Anstruther and Crail harbours

A little further afield, 20 minutes by car you will find Tentsmuir Beach which is bordered by a traditional pine forest. If you are lucky you may see seals basking in the sun from here.

The view from the balcony

Closer to home the surrounding fields attract a great deal of wildlife; deer, pheasants, partridges, hares and rabbits, stoats and foxes as well as many varieties of birds of prey.

Walking routes and cycling routes are plentiful and within easy walking distance of the cottage are sites of a Pictish Fort and a Roman Camp. Additionally there is a local ancient standing stone.

It's a 5 minute walk from your doorstep to join the Fife Coastal Path which meanders from cove to cove.
